Department of Social and Family Affairs Prospectus is conducting a review of the Department's management advisory committee (MAC). This review is examining the current governance structures within the Department, the collective and individual roles and responsibilities of MAC members, the relationship between the MAC and the senior management team of the Social Welfare Service. It is identifying the changes in the role of the MAC that need to be made to reflect good practice and to ensure that the MAC meets all of its responsibilities. It is also assessing what impact decentralisation may have on the operation of the MAC in the Department and how the MAC members should operate within a decentralised structure.
Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Prospectus is delivering an action-learning programme to strengthen the leadership and management capability in the Department. The objectives of the programme are to develop a pool of talented people to meet existing and new challenges facing the Department and to support the growing trend in the Department towards project-based work, an approach that the Department wishes to see expanded and embedded as part of its way of working. The programme focuses on three major themes: policy and strategy, leading and managing people, and ways of working.
Comhairle Prospectus reviewed the provision of existing sign language services in Ireland in order to ensure that a new sign language scheme would effectively meet the needs of the deaf community and public sector service providers. The service review:
- Examined how effective existing services were in meeting the needs of the deaf community in their interaction with public bodies
- Examined international models of good practice in relation to the provision of sign language services
- Identified what the requirements of the different stakeholders (the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities, interpreters, statutory bodies, voluntary and community organisations etc.) would have for a sign language interpretation (SLI) service in the future
- Estimated the costs associated with developing and providing such an SLI service, and the degree to which it could be self-financing
- Recommended appropriate financial, governance and management structures (based on good practice)
- Assessed the contribution of Irish Sign Link to the delivery of a national sign language service, and the potential for development in this area
- Recommended an operational framework for the development of sign language services in Ireland.
ESB (Electricity Supply Board) Prospectus worked with the ESB to deliver a marketing strategy taking into account the new regulatory framework. Key topics covered were competitive, regulatory and industry assumptions, segmentation of ESB's customer base, products and services portfolio, business model, attacking and defensive marketing strategies, customer service needs and communications/relationship management.
Prospectus assisted the Customer Supply Business Unit to review its strategy to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy and the business planning process. The deliverable from this project was the Customer Supply three-year strategy and included a route map for each of the major initiatives required to achieve market opening. This formed the basis of one-year objective setting for the management team.
Prospectus assisted ESB IT Solutions to develop a business plan detailing how IT Solutions would deliver on the ESB's corporate strategy and leverage current assets by developing a profitable IT company. Prospectus assisted the management of IT Solutions to develop a new strategy to support the development of a new venture. This involved the design of new organisation and governance structures within a deregulated environment. The deliverable from this project was a comprehensive business plan to establish a new IT Solutions venture.
IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency) Prospectus assisted IDA Ireland in a feasibility assessment of the development of a bio-manufacturing/processing research and development centre. Prospectus also assisted the IDA and its partners in progressing the project by:
- Determining the likely start-up and operating costs of such a centre, based on an agreed operating model
- Devising a strategy for the centre to move to a self-funding basis
- Developing a governance structure to drive the objectives of the centre
Westmeath County Council Prospectus worked with the senior management team to develop a management charter, which clarified the roles and responsibilities of each member of the team following the making of appointments to the new Directors of Services posts. Prospectus also worked with each Director/Head of Function to develop an implementation plan to deliver on the strategic objectives of the Council's three-year corporate plan.
Irish Dairy Processing Industry Prospectus was commissioned by Enterprise Ireland, the Department of Agriculture and the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC) to examine the competitive position of the Irish dairy processing industry against its major global competitors, to assess future market and policy environment developments and to set out a strategic roadmap for the industry.
Irish Pigmeat Industry Prospectus was commissioned to undertake a strategic analysis of the Irish pigmeat industry for the purpose of understanding the current state of the pigmeat processing capacity on the island of Ireland and the future outlook for the industry against the backdrop of production trends and conditions in the processing sector and changes in the international marketplace.
