Prospectus has a strong track record in working with academic institutions, where developing an early understanding of the uniqueness of the academic environment is critical to the successful outcome of projects. CREDENTIALS
University College Cork (UCC) Prospectus assisted with the development of a strategic plan for the Medical School in UCC. This involved working with the Head and Professors of the Medical School to agree a vision for the school in five years' time, to identify the strategic priorities and actions to enable the school to achieve that vision and to cost the planned developments (capital and revenue).
Prospectus developed a business case for a world-class research centre in human reproduction - including a Perinatal Centre, a Centre for Molecular Human Reproduction and a Centre for Innovation in Gynaecological Surgery - to be established in the new Cork University Maternity Hospital.
Prospectus worked with the Dean of the Dental School to develop a five-year strategic plan for Cork University Dental School and Hospital. This involved obtaining agreement from the academics, clinicians and senior administrative staff on the priority areas of development for the Dental School.
Prospectus facilitated a structured workshop for the Department of Paediatrics as part of its self-assessment for the university's quality assurance and improvement programme.
Prospectus assisted with the development of a proposition for establishing a School of Public Health within UCC. This involved working closely with the Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and academics and clinicians teaching in related subjects.
Prospectus assisted UCC in thinking through some of the challenges involved in establishing college structures.
Prospectus is working with the CEO of the Tyndall National Institute on the development of a five-year strategy.
Dublin Dental School and Hospital Prospectus conducted a review of the governance and management arrangements of the Dental School and Hospital (which is part of Trinity College, Dublin and has an independent Board). This involved working closely with the Dean, CEO, senior management team, clinicians, academics and other staff groupings to produce transparent, clear, efficient and acceptable structures and governance arrangements for recommendation to the Board.
Prospectus also assisted the two Irish Dental Hospitals (Dublin and Cork) to formulate the case for their future positioning under the appropriate pillar in the Health Service Executive.
National College of Ireland (NCI) Prospectus assisted NCI to complete a feasibility study for the development of an e-Learning model to deliver third level education to Laois County. This process involved:
- Assessing whether the NCI e-Learning model was a good fit for the educational needs of Laois County
- Outlining how the model will work
- Agreeing an outline of which courses are suitable for which target groups
- Detailing high-level costs for the set up and running of the e-Learning model
- Making recommendations on how the project should be progressed.
Department of Education and Science Prospectus provided project management support on a number of assignments for the Department of Education and Science, including:
- Carrying out an organisation review and redesign of a major business unit within the Department. This involved the redefinition of the role of this unit in light of additional functional responsibilities and assessed the suitability of current structures
- Reviewing the processes in the special education division and operations in the context of the long-term strategy
- Working with staff to identify and document the processes in need of redesign
- Developing options for redesign or relocation of activities and recommended solutions for the transfer and restructuring of a number of processes
- Developing the format and approach for the divisional business plans
- Working with the Partnership Sub-Committee to develop a framework for the business planning process
- Communicating the business planning process to all divisions in the Department
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Prospectus assisted in clarifying the role and functions of the RCSI Council. This involved interviewing the Council members and senior management, facilitating a number of structured workshops with the Council and formulating and presenting recommendations on its future governance arrangements.
Prospectus assisted the RCSI in developing the first-ever comprehensive review of surgical requirements in Ireland and hosting a forum on 'The Future of Surgical Specialties in Ireland'. This involved:
- Advising eleven specialty groups, whose members included consultants in each specialty, on their submissions outlining their view of how their specialty should develop in terms of the configuration and location of services, consultant requirements etc.
- Compiling the twelve submissions into an overall report, outlining the views of the RCSI and the eleven specialties
- Programme managing the work of the eleven specialty groups and their preparation for the forum
- Facilitating proceedings at the forum
Prospectus also supported the development of a business continuity management plan designed to anticipate and manage key risks facing the RCSI, relating to student affairs, teaching, research, business etc.
